Design Chick's Blogaboo!

We were featured on design edge!  What what!

Unfortunately they cut the part about how Laura and I are the bread and butter of the magazine…but that’s okay.  It’s still pretty cool anyways.  Check out the article here!

We are designers and we design stuff.  Right Laura?

Right Robin.

The original point of this blog was to promote cool design stuff that we came across.  We then realized that we are really funny and awesome and we wrote about alot more stuff.  Anyways, to get back to our roots (don’t worry we’ll still post other awesome stuff) here is a cool video you should watch about a pretty disgusting but awesome billboard that WB came out with to promote their new movie Contagion.

Also, on a side note here’s a cool contagion contest you can enter.

Do you love music?  Do you love not being naked?  Well, we’ve got the website for you!

The staff at Guataca Music Wear are hardcore music fans and believe that nothing says ‘rock and roll’ like the emblematic black band t-shirt.  Created by world class designers these t-shirts are being brought to you as a part of a movement to help ensure children across the country have access to music programs at school.

Guataca wha?  What does guataca mean?  Guataca is Venezuelan slang. The word is used to describe musicians who have the ability to “play by ear.” If you have Guataca, making music is something that will come naturally.

When you purchase a Guataca Music Wear tee, a portion of the proceeds is donated directly to MusiCounts, a Canadian music education charity. MusiCounts’ mission is to insist that all Canadian children, regardless of cultural background or socio-economic circumstances have access to a comprehensive music program through their school.

Check out Guataca Music Wear today and support a kid who wants to play the guitar or the drums or flute or saxaphone or harp or banjo or xylophone or trumpet or the weird kid who just likes to snap.  Don’t be this guy, be cool and buy a t-shirt.

Can’t say this is new, but its super cool.

Since August 2005, “We Feel Fine” has been harvesting human feelings from a large number of weblogs. Every few minutes, the system searches the world’s newly posted blog entries for occurrences of the phrases “I feel” and “I am feeling”. The result is a database of several million human feelings, increasing by 15,000 – 20,000 new feelings per day!

Each particle represents a feeling from somewhere in the world, so click on them and go wild!
You can change the way the data is sorted at the bottom left corner to get a different representation of the feelings!

As you all know, Laura and I are super famous designers. Well in our day to day designing ventures we come across a horse truck load of really weird and awkward stock photos. Paul, our confidant sent us this hilarious link this morning that has us in stitches.  We suggest you take a gander through to see some of the pictures that we look at on a day to day basis. Check it out here.

Laura and I are designers (in case you didn’t know that by our blog name).  We set up this blog to primarily discuss design stuff…but we’ve clearly veered off that path.  I like the randomness of our blog, but we thought today we’d show some respect to all those hard working designers out there.  We mostly design magazines but we respect all forms of design from jewelry making to furniture to body art.  This is a cool site where people can sell their original designs.  Want a unique chair for your kitchen, a weird looking toaster?  Well Etsy has it all!

I thought this baby shirt was cute.  I mean it’s a baby and he’s wearing a tie..genious!

There is so much to choose from on this site and the super cool thing is you can also sell your own designs.  So design something cool and become a millionaire.

Seen a font in use and want to know what it is? What the font allows you to upload a picture of the font and it will tell you what it is or what some close fonts are.
I use this all the time.  You should too…that is if you work with fonts, if you are a marine biologist..don’t bother.

Check this out – a company from Japan called D-barcode turns bar codes into works of art. What a nice little detail to add to your product. But it seems like a lot of work for something that just gets thrown out in the end – kind of like a Nickelback CD.

As you know we love glee here. Obviously. I was just told by a former (yet totally still amazing) co-worker to put this on our blog. I am surprised we didn’t think of it before.

What's your email? Give it to us. You won't be disappointed.
